Understanding Migraines (Ardhavabhedaka)

Ayurveda correlates Migraine with Ardhavabhedaka (half-head pain) or Suryavarta (sun-related headache). It is primarily caused by an imbalance in Vata and Pitta doshas, leading to impaired blood circulation and nerve irritation in the head.

Key Symptoms

  • Severe, throbbing pain usually on one side of the head
  • Extreme sensitivity to light (Photophobia) and sound
  • Nausea, vomiting, and dizziness
  • Visual disturbances (Aura) before the attack

Our Treatment Protocol

1. Shirodhara Therapy

A continuous, rhythmic pouring of warm medicated herbal oil over the forehead (third eye). This deeply calms the central nervous system, reduces stress, and pacifies Vata dosha.

2. Nasyam Therapy

Administration of herbal oils or juices through the nasal passage. The nose is considered the doorway to the brain in Ayurveda. Nasyam clears accumulated toxins and relieves nerve pressure.

3. Pitta-Pacifying Diet

We recommend cooling, Pitta-balancing diets avoiding triggers like fermented foods, excessive caffeine, and sour items that provoke headaches.
